The 16 July traveled 9 students from Brunswick High School(BHS) from Washington Dulles Airport with Lufthansa on one 9 days round trip to Greece and some of the Greek islands.
In the picture above you can see Trine and the other students from BHS. In addition, some of the other students 'parents participated in addition to the girls' teacher.
The students were selected and invited to the tour by their language teacher Stacey Bentley, who primarily teaches the Latin languages.. The trip was coordinated through the international travel company EF Tours as in above 30 years have sent American schoolchildren to Europe.
From Washington Dulles, the group flew to Frankfurt, Germany to change planes and from there on to Athens International Airport, where they were greeted by their Greek travel guide who was with them all week. After being handed their suitcases, everyone was accommodated at the Hotel Galaxy which is located near the Piraeus Port of Athens (Port of Piraeus).
Next day, the group boarded the cruise ship Celestyal Olympia which, after settling in, headed for the island of Mykonos, which is famous for the beautiful Mykonos windmills. ON Mykonos, the girls also experienced their first beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean Sea.
The 19 July, the girls visited the island of Samos (which is the island where Pythagoras was born), as well as the island of Patmos (where it is said that “the Book of Revelation” since the New Testament was written).
Next stop was Rhodes, where they visited the Grand Masters' haunt and the Colossus of Rhodes statue (one of the seven wonders of Greek mythology).
While the girls were on board the boat, they could relax on the boat's sundeck, or swim in one of them 2 swimming pool. There was also a disco and they got the experience of a Greek cultural evening with a Danish show.
The next day they visited the island of Crete, where they. visited Europe's oldest civilization Knossos. In addition, they got in the historical footsteps of the Minotaur from Greek mythology, but there was also time for shopping :-).
The 22 July, the girls visited the island of Santorini. The island is home to one of the largest active volcanoes / volcanic eruption seen in history. The girls had to walk for a little over an hour to get to the side of the island where the volcano is still active, to have that experience with.
The next day the group returned to Athens, where they visited the Acropolis, and was on a tour of Athens to see other historical sites.
The trip ended with an excursion to Delphi (known for the Oracle, as well as Apollo’s Temple). In addition, they visited an Olive tree farm, samt Poseidon’s temple.
It was a happy one, but also tired Trine we picked up at Dulles Airport Monday the 25 July. No doubt she has had some great experiences and memories to take home. Now it must be time for photos.
