True to tradition, was again this year held Danish Christmas party for our American friends and neighbors. We had invited 30 adults and 16 children for Christmas lunch at. 18:00.
The menu consisted of:
Herring with homemade curry salad, Fish Files, meatballs with red cabbage, kale with ham, as well as white and brown potatoes. Of course closed with cherry sauce with rice à l'impératrice. There was served schnapps, and Carlsberg beer (plain and elephant).
Lise had as always very busy in the kitchen up to the Christmas party to prepare food, so it should only be warmed before serving, but of course there were some things that had to be done at the last minute. We have borrowed an extra table and chairs from neighbours. The kids ate first, so we adults could enjoy our food in peace. Those of our friends and neighbors who have been invited to our Christmas party before, said that this event is one of the things they look forward to every year for Christmas. Those of our guests who were invited for the first time was partly impressed to Lise doing all the food itself, but also to all sat together and ate which is quite different than what you normally do in the celebrations here in the US, where you typically invite to standing buffee and then ta-for-all.
Moreover, we had planned package game. Again, we let the kids play first and then adults.
For Lise and I was an experience to see our guests embark on package play with heart and soul and before long had a lively exchange packets across bordret.
There was partying and hygget long into the small hours. Extra nice was it to Brian and his American wife Dawne had the opportunity to participate. Brian work for United Airlines and we meet in my work with United Airlines in Newark Airport in February. Since we have become good friends and meeting some times during the summer, so a Danish Christmas dinner was something he fremtil.
All in all a pleasant evening with happy guests, go food and party spirit as we know the best.
